Pleuntje Bongers (2001) is a Dutch artist currently studying Fine Arts. Her work explores the deep connection between humans and the natural world, focusing on how human presence weaves into the rhythms and materials of nature. Working across performance, sculpture, and photography, she examines the traces we leave behind—both subtle and profound—and how nature, in turn, responds.
By investigating the intersection of art and ecology, Bongers challenges the idea of nature as a passive backdrop, instead presenting it as an active force in our shared existence. She is drawn to the resilience and transformation found in natural cycles, questioning how human intervention alters landscapes and materials over time.
At the heart of her practice is the belief that art can deepen our awareness of the fragile balance between presence and absence, growth and decay. Through her work, she invites viewers to reflect on their own entanglement with the environment and the ways in which we shape—and are shaped by—the world around us.
