During my time at Sachaqa Centro de Arte, I immersed myself in traditional weaving techniques, engaging in a hands-on process that deepened my understanding of natural materials and their transformation. From collecting fibers in the surrounding landscape to learning how to prepare and weave them, each step was guided by a sense of patience and respect for the land. This experience was not just about acquiring a new skill—it was about forming a deeper connection to nature and the rhythms that govern it.

Living and working within the community, I was welcomed into a new family, where knowledge was shared as a continuous exchange rather than a formal lesson. I witnessed how art and life seamlessly intertwined, with the act of weaving becoming a form of storytelling, a practice of care, and an extension of the earth itself. Through this, I gained a new appreciation for slowness and ritual, understanding that every thread carries the memory of its origin.

This time at Sachaqa profoundly influenced my artistic approach, reinforcing my interest in materiality, transformation, and the interwoven relationship between humans and the natural world. It was a period of learning, not just about technique, but about the ways in which creation is an act of connection—one that ties us to the land, to each other, and to the histories embedded in the materials we touch.

The woven pieces I created during this time became part of my exhibition Roots of Rebirth, where I explored themes of transformation, resilience, and the intimate relationship between human hands and natural fibers. The works reflected the slow, intentional process I had learned, carrying with them the traces of the earth they came from. This exhibition became a way to share my experience at Sachaqa, inviting others to witness the dialogue between material and maker, and the cyclical nature of creation.
